“As you can see, I’m not just MAGA, I’m dark MAGA… President Trump must win to preserve the Constitution… He must win to preserve democracy in America… If they don’t, this will be the last election. That’s my prediction.”
Elon Musk pictured above, appearing on the October 5th Butler, Pa rally stage with Donald Trump.
“The Democrats have given us another option. You don’t have to register to vote. On Election Day, have 10 fake names, go to 10 polling booths and vote 10 times. That’s 100 votes, and it’s not illegal. Maybe we should work the system too.”

“A Massive Fraud of this type and magnitude allows for the termination of all rules, regulations, and articles, even those found in the Constitution… Our great ‘Founders’ did not want, and would not condone, False & Fraudulent Elections!”
Donald Trump in December 2022 on the 2020 “stolen” election.
The fractionalization of the United States, the elevation of conspiracy theories legitimized above empirical facts, laced with less-than-subtle threats (and acts) of violence, unjustified blame laced with racial overtones, the rise of anti-democratic white Christian nationalism, the rise against scientific or medical expertise, and acting on lies knowing that they are false has redefined America, perhaps forever. Now the power of big… make that huge… money in the person of Elon Musk, the richest man on Earth, is threatening to buy immense “dark” political power.
We’ve not had any serious voting irregularities in any US elections in the modern era, yet even as Trump appointed judges have joined the massive judicial chorus vindicating the 2020 election as fair and accurate, the mythology of the “stolen election” has enabled red state legislatures and election boards, falsely using “election integrity” as an excuse, to find ways to purge anti-MAGA voters from voting roles and even to reverse unfavorable election results. The attitude, reflected in the above Maye Musk quote (recommending a very illegal activity) is most telling.
While South African-born Elon Musk is constitutionally barred from running for President of the United States, his massive wealth – able to throw hundreds of millions if not billions of dollars at election campaigns under the horrific Citizen United vs FEC ruling (US Supreme Court, 2010) – just might enable him to push his Plutarch-driven, ego-based, elitist ethos to become the de facto “hand of Trump” should Trump prevail in November. His purportedly “neutral” social media platform X makes Fox News seem downright liberal. Oh, there are other dynastic “heirs-in-waiting,” enabled by an ethics-impaired MAGA majority in the US Supreme Court, ranging from a very smooth speaking “cat-lady”-blaming, Yale Law educated JD Vance, to Trump’s own “I love to lie and rile folks up” son, Donny.
“The former president’s eldest son wears many hats—campaigner, propagandist, author, podcaster, businessman, memelord—and not all Republicans believe his influence is positive. But after a lifetime of scraping for his dad’s approval, he has become the former president’s most essential political adviser, reports WSJ’s Molly Ball. Trump Jr., who takes credit for convincing his father to select JD Vance as a running mate, says he’s now focused on ‘blocking the people who would be a disaster’ for Trump’s aggressive second-term agenda.” Wall Street Journal, October 6th. A dynastic threat?
Aside from Trump’s threat of a “bloodbath” should he lose in November, Trump made the following statement on July 27th at conservative group Turning Point Action in West Palm Beach, Florida: “Christians, get out and vote, just this time. You won't have to do it anymore. Four more years, you know what, it will be fixed, it will be fine, you won't have to vote anymore, my beautiful Christians.” Does Trump seem ready to win by hook or by crook? Will that “victory” represent the end of the America democracy and the installation of a Trump/MAGA driven autocracy, implementing a monarch-like succession plan?
Even at the highest levels of government, there are severe doubts about November 5th and the events that follow. At a press conference on October 4th, President Joe Biden said: “I'm confident [the election] will be free and fair. I don't know whether it will be peaceful… The things that [former President Donald] Trump has said and the things that he said last time around when he didn't like the outcome of the election were very dangerous.”
Elon Musk was born and raised in the home of apartheid governance, since repealed, South Africa. His wealth hovers at “trillionaire.” He has every material asset one could ever dream of, and he controls a space-technology company, launching his own rockets, ferrying wealthy or connected “astronauts” into areas of space where only NASA real astronauts have traveled. Orbital satellites he has launched control major communications and tracking systems all over the world.
What does Musk lack that his unfathomable wealth has yet to buy? Becoming the puppet-master to the MAGA puppet-master? Whatever else is said and done, Trump’s age (78) assures that he personally will not be able to pull strings much longer. Donny (46) is certainly young enough and manipulative enough to continue the family dictatorship, if possible, but he isn’t a match for Musk’s wealth or intelligence. At 53, Musk just may be in a position to rule the United States with a kind of power this nation has never seen before: Indirect, never having to face an election that he would surely lose, even if Trump is successful in “terminating” the Constitution as he expressed in the quote above.
I’m Peter Dekom, and I continue to be appalled at what seems to be the vast pool of American voters who believe simply that the November election is just another same-old/same-old issue-driven election, as opposed to a vote to continue or end the United States as a democracy… which is clearly the elephant-issue in the room.
