Government of Trump, by Trump and for Trump Must Perish from this Earth
Government of Trump, by Trump and for Trump Must Perish from this Earth
“Government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the Earth.”
Abraham Lincoln, Gettysburg, November 19, 1863
“Yeah, there is one thing. My own morality. My own mind. It’s the only thing that can stop me.”
Donald Trump in a January 8th NY Times interview when asked if there were any limits on his global power.
Let me start by reminding my readers that I come from a mostly Republican family, and that my family members’ history of federal professional or managerial employment – including my father, mother, uncle, stepfather and even my son – has made me trust that government, with a few notable exceptions which I have written about, most of the time… until now. Today, if the information flows from the federal government, particularly if that information is merely an aggrandizement of “fearless leader” (by self or his devoted minions) touting easily and obviously disprovable “facts,” my trust level is now less than zero. I watch as every good thing has happened, even if it emanated from the Biden or Obama administrations, was all because of Donald Trump’s excellence. He’s now once again blaming the January 6, 2021 Capitol attack as having been caused by Deep State Democrats, also roping in the tired notion that Dominion (voting machines) as having rigged the elections in Venezuela… statements that have been litigated and debunked so many times as to be completely discredited.
But as we have witnessed time and again, the entire Trump administration has challenged anyone who opposes anything Trump as “deranged,” misguided, the product of radical leftist Democrats, socialists or, most recently, “domestic terrorists.” His statements about taking a Danish territory, Greenland where locals uniformly despise Trump, has alienated much of Europe and threatens to end NATO.
But Venezuela? Even as his personal lacky attorney, Trump mouthpiece AG Pam Bondi (echoed by Secretary of Machismo Pete Hegseth, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Rasputin operative, Stephen Miller), Trump himself has uttered this was only a legal operation to arrest a drug lord, thus not requiring congressional notice or approval, Trump promptly informed the world that it was really about the oil and that he personally would be running the entire country himself, even seizing and selling oil… looking more like Valdimir Putin than the president of a democracy.
Meanwhile, as the number of Republicans in Congress were beginning to wonder if they really want to support an out-of-control autocrat, his masked secret police, sworn to uphold his directives, moved in on Minneapolis-St Paul and Portland Oregon, ICE agents began killing locals. A 37-year-old Minneapolis mommy and writer-poet was gunned down as she was attempting to flee aggressive ICE officers. If you look at all the many videos of that event, there is no way you could ever justify the deadly force that killed her. Still, before any investigation, Donald Trump, ICE Barbie Kristi Noem and VP JD Vance all labeled the homicide as justified… and the deceased as a “domestic terrorist.” Then, Noem pushed local police (who normally work hand-in-hand with federal agencies) off the case entirely; Bondi announced that the investigation would be performed by the FBI with no state involvement. That’s not suspicious, huh? What’s worse, Vance even declared that the ICE shooter operated with absolute immunity… which is a total lie.
Well, from those working inside the various Trump police and military agencies, there is a new uniform response to all of these horrible missteps: the federal forces are merely doing their jobs, and domestic terrorists are coming to get them. As various bills are rising in Congress, if the GOP ever grows a spine, maybe Congress can contain Trump. Writing for the January 8th Zeteo, Adam Lynch reports on what he has learned from federal officers willing to provide information about this massive erosion of our democracy: “[Two] White House officials and an anonymous military source say President Donald Trump's administration privately plans to go scorched-earth if U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials are arrested or prosecuted for breaking the law.
“‘As one senior Trump administration official describes it, the mandate was clear: Don’t give an inch, and protect the accused agents ‘no matter what,’’ write Zeteo correspondents Asawin Suebsaeng and Prem Thakker. ‘Two of the sources add that within the past year, President [Donald] Trump himself has privately said that if one of his immigration agents were ever subject to arrest or prosecuted, he and his administration could retaliate by refusing to hand over the officer, counter by federally charging Democrats or local officials with ‘obstructing’ immigration enforcement, or threaten to further cut off federal funding to the state in question.’
“Trump began rolling masked ICE forces through U.S. cities last year, triggering violent arrests and harassment of local residents, often over the opposition of local leaders. Now that 43 year-old ICE agent Jonathan Ross has killed a 37 year-old mother in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the administration is already swinging into action to bar unbiased investigations into the slaying, claiming local courts and prosecutors have no jurisdiction into the murder of one of its own residents.
“Administration officials say the White House and the president’s deputy chief of staff, Stephen Miller, ‘gamed out since early last year’ what to do if Democrats, or state or local prosecutors, ever moved to arrest or prosecute ICE officers or federal immigration personnel accused of crimes, even murder… ‘Almost instantly after news of the fatal shooting began circulating on social media, the Trump administration and its close allies fanned out to insist to the American people that the victim had it coming, or that Democrats will only suffer more if they try to hold anyone accountable for the killing,’ Zeteo reports.
“Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem quickly labeled the victim, Renee Nicole Good, a ‘domestic terrorist.’ One anonymous military policy official told Zeteo he was surprised at ‘Noem so readily moving to defend the murderous ICE agent.’… [It] never has bode well, historically, once the state stops pretending to care about some level of institutional respect and acts without regard for the public backlash,’ the source told Zeteo. ‘Only makes me worried about what it’ll do next.’” We have morphed into an autocratic government, motivated by retaliation and revenge by an unpopular president who has, more than once, complained about why we are even having midterm elections.
I’m Peter Dekom, and if Congress doesn’t stop an egomaniacal president with deteriorating mental and physical capacity, we can use the “N” word (not racial) correctly, even if we are immediately arrested as domestic terrorists.
